Stainless Steel Bearings
Midland Bearings are perhaps the premier stockist of stainless, anti-corrosion bearings in the UK.
These rust proof journals are produced from AISI440 stainless material and are available with rubber seals {2RS}, metal shields {ZZ} or unsealed.
These types of none corrosive bearings are often used in food processing application and equipment that comes into contact with food. Due to this, all of the greases used in these bearings are food grade lubricants.
AISI440 is a martensitic {magnetic} grade of stainless and bearings produced from this material are not suited to highly corrosive environments. They are suited for applications that are regularly cleaned down such as food conveyor etc
Bearings used in highly corrosive environments or seawater are normally produced from 316-grade steel or plastic. This is generally a softer material and although more resistant to corrosion bearings made from 316 stainless are not as hard wearing and would take much less load than a standard AISI440 bearing.
These AISI440C bearings are generally deep grooved ball bearings {10mm bore and above} and normally designated as 6000, 6200 and 6300 series. However we are also able to supply other series in stainless steel. Midland Bearings also stock miniature stainless steel bearings. Other bearing series also available in stainless steel are self aligning, inserts for use in housings, extra thin, extra wide, thrust races, flanged, single row and double row bearings. We can even offer angular contact journals in stainless.
Stainless steel bearings are available with both imperial and metric dimensions and Midland also stock a range of SS housings to mount these bearings into. These housing are available in different styles such as pillow block, two bolt flange and four bolt flange units. The stainless steel housings are made from AISI304 grade stainless.
Midland Bearings has over 20 million bearings in stock at our centrally located 50,000 square feet warehouse in Kingswinford. Enough stock to supply the whole of the UK.
